  • Differentiate the major etiologies of LVAD outflow graft obstruction
  • Apply a multimodality imaging approach to suspected LVAD OGO
  • Describe contemporary management strategies of LVAD outflow graft obstruction
  • Evaluate procedural outcomes and complications of OGO stenting

Behind the Heart, Beyond the Pancreas: A Case of Posterior Mediastinal Extension of Necrotizing Pancreatitis. Dr. Mohamed Elhennawi

Objectives:

  • Recognize atypical thoracic manifestations of necrotizing pancreatitis, including posterior mediastinal extension
  • Describe the anatomical pathways that allow pancreatic inflammation to extend into the mediastinum
  • Identify key imaging findings on CT and MRI that aid in diagnosing mediastinal complications of pancreatitis
  • Discuss multidisciplinary management strategies and clinical outcomes in complex cases of necrotizing pancreatitis with thoracic involvement 

Impact of Sodium Glucose Contransporter-2 Inhibitors on Post-Operative Atrial Fibrillation in Cardiothoracic Surgery: A Multicenter Cohort Study. Dr. Mohanad Shehadeh

Objectives:

  • Review the incidence and clinical impact of post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF) following cardiothoracic surgery
  • Discuss emerging data from multicenter cohort studies evaluating the association between SLGT2 inhibitor use and reduced POAF incidence
  • Explore potential mechanisms by which SGLT2 inhibitors may mitigate POAF risk and their implications for peri-operative patient care

Safety Profile and Adverse Events of Resmetirom: Pharmacovigilance Analysis of the FDA Adverse Events Reporting System (FAERS) Database. Dr. Marina Takaway

Objectives:

  • Introduce the concept of (phase 4 clinical research) post marketing surveillance databases to the audience
  • Orient the audience to the potential use of FDA adverse event database and other similar databases for research use as well as clinical use
  • Share what we know so far about the safety profile and adverse events of resmetirom with the audience
  • Share the strength and weakness of research studies based off this database and similar databases
