Abstract
Until recently, volume was a key factor in the goals and successful management of health care. The more patients seen, the more revenue generated. The Affordable Care Act and changes in reimbursement have redirected that focus toward quality. Results are what will produce revenue. With this shift in focus, those patients who are actively noncompliant will become a liability to individual providers. Dismissal of these patients is becoming an acceptable option.
