Abstract
The chronic nature of rheumatic diseases and their direct influence on patients’ quality of life (i.e., fatigue and pain) have urged patients to utilize different complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modalities as a natural way of dealing with their chronic conditions. Examples of CAM include acupuncture, cupping, homeopathy, Chinese or Oriental medicine, and herbal/dietary supplements. In this chapter, we will discuss commonly used complementary alternative medicine modalities and their use and safety in rheumatic diseases, with a particular remark on studies conducted in the Arab region.
