Abstract
This chapter introduces the factorial design, an alternative research design for clinical trials. It starts by presenting an overview of the study design. It then explains the benefits and limitations compared to a traditional parallel arms trial. The chapter then provides a step-by-step guide to setting up a clinical trial using factorial design. Examples of published clinical trials using factorial design are provided. An action guide to facilitate readers interested in applying factorial design concludes the chapter.
