Objectives: 

• Describe how microRNA was discovered and how it controls gene expression 
• Explain why patients with chronic kidney disease are at high risk for heart disease 
• Identify how microRNA and extracellular vesicles drive heart injury in kidney disease 
• Describe how dialysis and transplant change microRNA levels and affect heart health 
• Recognize new microRNA-based tools for diagnosing and treating cardiorenal syndrome
